Join us on one of the best alpine treks in Georgia and discover the magical world of mountain lakes in Samegrelo. We’ll spend 6 days exploring the famous ‘colourful lakes’ of Tobavarchkhili. Hike to nearby villages and smaller lakes, take in the stunning nature, enjoy the night sky and relax surrounded by the timeless Caucasus.

Itinerary

DAY 1: SAMEGRELO HIGHLANDS

Pickup & departure to Mukhuri at 4 AM.

MUKHURI
Mukhuri is a village in a highland village in Western Georgia.

THE SECOND SHACK OF SHEPHERDS
We’ll travel through the striking nature of Samegrelo by half-track vehicle along the shepherd’s route. We’ll stop at a special point, the Second Shack of Shepherds where we’ll camp for the night under the stunning night sky. Set up a tent and make preparations for the next day.

DAY 2: THE EAGLE’S VANTAGE

The Eagle’s Vantage is another breathtaking location on our route.
Depending on the hiking pace we may spend the night here or continue our route to Tobavarchkhili.

DAY 3: LITTLE TOBA LAKE

Once we’ll reach the Little Toba Lake and we spend the whole day taking in the beautiful scenery. Secluded by mountains from all sides, this lake feels like a precious secret of nature. The brave ones among us are welcome to have a dip in the cold but pristine waters of Little Toba.

DAY 4: CHITAGVALA, TOBAVARCHKHILI & KALIASHI TOBA

We’ll spend the day exploring the surroundings. We’ll hike to Chitagvala, Tobavarchkhili and Kaliashi Toba as well as many other tiny lakes in the area. Before it gets dark we’ll return to our camp at the Little Toba Lake.

DAY 5: LITTLE TOBA CAMP

We’ll spend another day relaxing at our Little Toba camp.

DAY 6: BACK TO CIVILIZATION

On the last day, full of impressions and unforgettable memories, we’ll hike back to Mukhuri and travel back to Tbilisi.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

About hike:
- Trip difficulty - Average Difficult;
- Trip length - 35 KMs, including both ways.
- Everyone in the group shall be prepared for harsh weather conditions;
- It is preferable to have one’s own equipment;
- It is preferable to have one’s own primus stove;
-We do not encourage to bring Alcoholic beverages;

What you’ll need:
- Tent (with the capacity to withstand the rainfall);
- Hiking backpack with 55 Ltr. capacity or more;
- Hiking shoes (preferably two pairs of shoes);
- Food suitable for a 6-day hiking trip (advice will be provided by our guides)
- Sleeping bag, lamp, primus stove, hiking cutlery
