This three-day tour will take you through the colourful history of the region by showing you some of the most essential places to visit in Georgia.We’ll start by driving towards South Caucasus taking in the innate beauty of Georgian landscape. In Gori, we’ll uncover childhood secrets of one of the two most influential men of the 20th century – Joseph Stalin who grew up in this small town in Kartli. We’ll also visit the famous recreational resort Borjomi, a favourite summer gateway of the Romanov family. In Akhaltsikhe, we’ll admire the Rabati fortress, the medieval beauty that stood as a protector over the Potskhovi river. Through the years and the struggles, the Rabati Fortress has kept elements from every century and culture making it one of the most diverse and interesting places to visit in Georgia. Another must-see destination for any visitor is Vardzia, a 12th-century town, completely hollowed from the rocky mountains. The man-made caves that stretch along the cliff for some five hundred meters and in up to nineteen tiers is truly a sight that could captivate anyone.

- JOSEPH STALIN MUSEUM
We start the visits from J. Stalin’s house-museum dedicated to the life of the leader of the Soviet Union. Museum consists of the house, where Stalin was born and spent the first 4 years of his life, an exposition building where the leader’s personal items are presented and Stalin’s personal train carriage with the interior.
Drive to ancient rock-hewn cave town of Uplistsikhe dating back to 1st millennium BC. The town is identified as one of the oldest settlements in Georgia and is remarkable for the combination of Anatolian and Iranian cultures. The museum includes rock streets and squares, halls, secret tunnels, remains of ancient churches and museum building where valuable items excavated in Uplistsikhe are presented.

Surrounded by the diverse flora and fauna of the Borjomi Kharagauli National park, one of the largest protected areas in Europe, Borjomi truly stands out for its lush vegetation all year around. It’s also home to the world-famous sparkling mineral water. The artesian springs are fed by waters coming from glaciers and it rises to the surface without pumping.

- RABATI FORTRESS
We’ll visit Akhaltsikhe main attraction – Rabati fortress. Rabati fortress connects a museum, a castle, an 18th-century Mosque and a Georgian Orthodox church. The museum presents a major part of the cultural heritage of Javakheti region, such as old manuscripts, archaeological exhibits, ethnographic material, collection of old carpets and rugs.
South from Rabati is another fortress worth a visit. Khertvisi, built in the 9th century,
is one of the oldest fortresses from the Georgian feudal period.
VARDZIA CAVE COMPLEX
Vardzia is a cave city dating back to the 12th century and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Georgia. Carved in the slopes of the Erusheti Mountain it stretches an impressive 500 meters along cliff and consists of 19 tiers. After construvtion, the cave city contained 6000 apartments, a throne room and a large church with a bell tower. Monks live in caves to this day.
A PICNIC IN NATURE
For lunch, we’ll stop just outside of Vardzia to have hot trout barbeque and picnic.
TSALKA LAKE DISTRICT
On our drive back to Tbilisi, we’ll see the three most stunning lakes: Sagamo, Paravani and Tsalka.
