The main advantages of Goderdzi are its well-equipped ski tracks, perfect ski lifts and an amazing opportunity for free riders to ride in powder. The high quality snow, one of the longest ski seasons in the country, few people on the slopes and low prices make it popular for skiing in Georgia.

THE HISTORY OF GODERDZI WINTER SPORTS CENTER

Due to its proximity to the Black Sea, Goderdzi receives higher snowfall than other Georgia ski resorts. Its mountains are blanketed with snow from November to April. This has earned the resort the title of “the most snowy ski resort in Georgia.” At the time of the opening of the resort, snow depth exceeded 2 meters, which was three times greater than the other Georgia skiing resorts of Gudauri and Bakuriani.

Construction of the Goderdzi ski center began in 2011, and the resort was opened in December 2015. Currently there are 4 ski lifts and 6 cottages, but the valley floor’s gently rolling topography offers plenty of zones for future development.

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT GODERDZI SKI RESORT

The king of Georgian cuisine, Adjaruli Khachapuri is a boat-shaped bread served with cheese, butter and eggs.

Other regional specialties to try include achma (another Georgian cheese bread), sinori (lavash with cottage cheese and butter), lakhni (beef brisket with nuts and spices), borano (Georgian fondue made from adjarian cheese and melted butter), malakhto (bean dish with walnuts, spices and sour grape juice), kaimaghi (sour cream served with corn bread) and adjaruli spinning cheese.

Adjara is also one of the oldest winemaking sites in Georgia, and wine connoisseurs are drawn here by its wine tourism opportunities. The craft is particularly well developed in the Qeda municipality which boasts unique types of wine such as Qeda Tsolikauri and Chkhaveri.

Located nearby is Akhali Zarzma – a smaller replica of the Zarzma church.
